Re: Comenius Action Plan

Dear Comenius Partners,

While expressing our deep satisfaction for the excellent organization of the project activities, as realized on the occasion of the meetings in Italy and in Finland, we do recognize that two main objectives have been insofar achieved:

  1. a clear understanding and sharing of the Comenius project philosophy and educational mission in the field of the topic area "WELLNESS";
  2. the planning of research activities on behalf of teachers and dedicated to Comenius class students to support and develop cross-cultural awareness of the close relationship between each country's resources (geographical, cultural and school vocational- related resources) and a politically correct idea of Wellness.

Prior to the planned meeting in Berlin it is expected from all of us to urgently demonstrate the work in progress by dedicating a specific section of our school websites to the COMENIUS PROJECT inserting a range of products:

  • Presentation of the Partner school inclusive of vocational aims and educational departments;
  • Research on the distinct features of each partner country beyond perceived stereotypes;
  • Focus activities on Wellness: definition, perception, cultural insight from each school's distinct vocational perspective ( as shared in the project application format and in the Comenius workshops: i.e cultural itineraries- Berlin; folklore itineraries - Madrid; sauna & spa itineraries -Jyvaskila; nature & food itineraries-Brindisi)
  • Students' interaction in the IPSSAR FORUM, coordinated by a Comenius teacher member in each country and supervised by the Italian appointed webmaster.

Forum activities are to include: personal introduction, students' view on wellness, school vocational experiences, customs & country's description, wealthy leisure time activities.

Forum passwords will be promptly sent to you for the above said activities.
All the products -briefly introduced by teachers- are meant to be exchanged and thoroughly studied so to generate a well- founded discussion upon the project topic area; they are next to be converted into a single product accompanied by a group report.

The aim is to demonstrate and disseminate our good and even "best practice"- as a requisite for a further Comenius application.
Trusting your qualified contribution , we invite you to visit IPSSAR BR website www.alberghierobrindisi.it as a basic start up model and as an interaction environment.

Looking forward to meeting you in Berlin, we wish you wellness.

COMENIUS ACTION PLAN 2010

Following to the first official transnational meeting (BRINDISI 26- 29 NOVEMBER 2009 Italy) the partners agree upon the common core activities deserving a deeper insight on the research level for the teachers’ in-service cross-cultural training and class related project activities:

• Classification of “wellness” in the field of tourism referred to natural beauties, art treasures, music, folklore and food specialties with particular reference to typical local resources generated from a sustainable approach to a healthy and safe lifestyle;

• Development of an educational school project focussed on the appreciation of the geographic, historic, economic context of Wellness as perceived in each partner’s country and developed according to the latest content and language integrated learning modalities in each school reality

• Cross-cultural communication among teachers and students through both traditional and electronic means to develop language competences and cultural awareness

Respectful of the above selected activities the partners are allocated specific project tasks:

· The Catering School, Jyvaskila (FI) will be responsible for the planning of a wellness itinerary based on traditional Nordic saunas and hydrotherapy

· Escuela Superior de Hosteleria y Turismo, Madrid (ES) will develop documentation of a cultural itinerary constructed around the Spanish folklore and its oenological traditions

· The Leibniz Gymnasium Berlin will demonstrate the function and value of art and music for the well being of a cultural environment

· Hospitality School - IPSSAR PERTINI, Brindisi will be responsible for the integrated planning of a naturalistic and gastronomic itinerary in relation to environmentally sustainable resources, processes and biodynamic production
